It says this when you try to -scanbus? When does it say it?

Do you have the various SCSI drivers compiled into the kernel?  
(Generic includes them).

What are the related dmesg lines? What did you use to listen to audio?

burncd only supports ATAPI drives, not SCSI. Is it SCSI or ATAPI?
