[BUGS] cdrecord doesn't

Hi,
I'm trying to burn an iso image using cdrecord but I'm not having much
luck.

cdrecord returns the error : Error 0. Cannot open SCSI driver.

The device is detected at boot and seems to work ok, I can listen to audio cds etc.

I've also tried burncd but that writes 1% then dies.                  

As a test I booted DSL (Linux) and tried cdrecord -scanbus and the DVD
burner is detected.
Are there any kernel twiddly bits I can twiddle with to get this working?
