yes, i have done that as well

but i do not understand this bit ...

ok we all can't have teh benefits of being an invalid pensioner
.. grin, sort off, attempting funny, ok

ok, i can see that you would have a few more hosts remote
managed hosts than i do

actually this is avery good idea, it makes sence (ok to me) on teh surface

and this is where it starts to get messy/hairy/strange fro me,
either i have missd teh point completely or you are doing
something completely strange that i cannot fathom, because on
my system(s) i change the root: alias to me, call me a
narcissist.

why does it "need" to be so ?? and /or what sort of 'system
mail' reporting are you talking about ?? because the basic
maintenace stuff taken care of by the root crontab
'maintenance' stuff done over night, i call mine midnight
maintenance, in memory of a bygone age of mail/news transport
philosophies, as a homage if you will.

on my v6.2 based (as well as teh lone v2,2,5) hosts all teh
maintenance "mail" gets converted to j,,,mi.. as per teh root:
alias, now this all comes to the at caamor dot com dot au
aliased address and my mua then sorts it via the way that mutt
as avaliable .. i choose Subject: as teh subject: has the
machine name from which teh report has come .. relatively
simple .. now as regards those fancy gui mua i don't have a
clue as i am only starting with evolution and i don't hardly
use it as it just takes tooooo much horsepower to run.

if tehat teh mail you are talking about it not a real
issue/problem, i don't think ?

but, well the other kinds of reporting via syslog i thik its
called that can be redirected by setting up a "loghost" in your
dns service and tehn all teh syslog stuff goes to the nominated
host .. there are some "security" issues as i've read from time
to time but don't recall at this point in time..
