It was running FreeBSD OK and crashed and rebooted from inside
FreeBSD?  You're not dual-booting with Windows Vista or something
like that, are you?  Maybe some sort of anti-virus thing in the
BIOS is doing something to the boot sector when you reboot?  What
sort of motherboard is it?

As Peter said, the output of pciconf, or the contents
of /var/run/dmesg.boot would be useful to us.

Another point: 7.0 was OK, bit it was a bit rough around the
edges, being the first version of a new major branch.
7.1 has been in pre-release for quite a while, and is
(apparently) just about to be released.  It might pay to get hold
of a more recent installation CD before you try again.  There's a
7.1-beta available, apparently.
