Remote access mail servers often use different ports as well.. But  
they will say what they use..

And while ISPs often block port 25 they leave 587 open.. Most mail  
servers listen on both 25 and 587 by default! (This is the case with  
optus).

Rarely do people have smtp.server.com mapped to anything these days,  
it's all mail.server.com for collecting and sending mail. I'v never  
see a relay.server.com, but I suppose there must be some..
