Aaah, yes, I should have been clearer.  I will be using the big SATA
drives simply as file server bulk storage.  I still intend to keep my
smaller IDE disks for the boot partition, the OS and the normal works
(i.e. / /boot /usr /var /tmp won't be on the SATA drives).

Despite all my trimming, yes that all made good sense.  I would have
said you are quite lucid today, actually.  ;-)

I just wanted to be sure the BIOS won't bite me, because I have already
sunk too much time and money into getting that crappy standalone NAS
box working (I naively assumed it would be *easier* than a complete DIY
job).
