I think this is related to mounting.  If you used "zfs receive -u" then 
it doesn't mount the filesystem that is being received.

Check the output of "zfs list" and "zfs mount", and the zfs properties 
"mounted", and "mountpoint" for all the filesystems in that hierarchy.

There have also been ZFS bugs in the past relating to thinking received 
filesystems were mounted when they aren't, so try rebooting :-)
