   greetings, gentle peoples ...

well its 2 am almost and i've managed to finish a v7 installations, mores teh
point fixing the mess sysinstall makes off teh networking setup.

i installed v7 on a small box with a 120 gb ide hard drive (tht is also having
recognition problems with freebsd, but not solaris and linux -- various).

after installing freebsd v7 frm teh cdrom i watched it fail to send teh
overnight maintenance reports tot eh mailserve for reasons best known to teh
people who make thes things work the way that they do...

i reinstalled freebsd v7 this time from a dvdrom i got from another distributor
but teh same edition v7.0-release and i sent a fe mail to myself across teh
network ,, just like with all teh (nightmares) mail problems that i had with
v6,?? nothing would get through but every thing else looks like it worked
   reasonably well.

then i slogin to teh v7 box and in an adjecent window i put up a wrking copy of
the two rc.conf filesnext tot eh one v7 produced and fails to send mail through
   to teh mailserver,
for the life o me i could not see what teh differnces were if any ?? but i
coppied over the relevent things .. i then rechecked networks file i know it
not needed but i like to have it there for complelness, edited hosts and a few
others, note none of these have any effect on mail routing etc.

then i tried to send a mail to myself .. and now it works .. just like with
   v6.etc

anyone got any ideas as to what is going on here ?? i never hand thes kinds of
ridiculious (as i see it to be) problems with these new freebsds

its been a long day and now the mail is working so i am goin to bed to get some
   muchneeded rest/sleep.

   observations/pointers/whatever

   much kind regards

   jonathan
