gerrtings all...

i've been struggling with all teh garbage coming in today and
getting up another box to run a mailserver .. all i have is
several p6-200 boxen.

i've got v6.2-r up and running on one, its got 4 gb scsi drive,
i've gotten a 120 gb atapi that i'm going to replace teh 200 mb
ide drive with. this machine has 128 mb dram, i think i can add
another 128 mb ? if required.

reading about stuff like ip-aliasing gets a bit confusing at
time, so many articles so many different way of doing it ..
grr. the only problem is that i need this box to keep its
current 'identity' as its doing some small but important stuff.

are there any things that i should be mindfull of it i alias
this box with the current mx hosts ip address to this server
then setup a new sendmail/postfix/exim network mail server on
teh new box.

my only real concern is the running of teh mail server softwar
as the aliased addresse so that teh rest of teh world will be
able to see this machine as teh aliased adress and negotiate
the appreopriate mail stuff and deliver the mail.

is this at all possible or have i really missunderstood things
??

appreciations and much thanks

kind regards

jonathan
