i am using an off teh cdrom (put another way "out of teh box")
from a 4 cdrom set by freebsd.org (from freebsdmall, i think).

umm, no i have not recomiled the kernel .. not since i needed a
new kernel back in v2.2.5 and or 2.2.7 back then ..

but, for a while it worked well than one day it just stoped working
and i had done nothing. that is not made any changes to teh
system .. the two other machines with teh same copy of freebsd
kernel are working more or less well, at least thier sendmails
have not stoped to work (locally) and thier localhosts will
respond to ping lo.. in a sane and predictable manner.

i understand how this looks this is what is making it so
frustrating .. sorry for teh whining .. every thing looks so
normal, yet there is some fault ???

thank you for the time and effort, much appreciated.

ps i've managed to get some google'esque responces about linux
having this problem with sendmail v?.13.1 (me thinks its
8.13.1) .. as per my original post/responce about this
question.

regards

jonathan
