even worse is that it is so simple aparently .. but i cannot
see a trace, cannot find what is wrong

everything except teh lo entery, it has teh inet6 for localhost
but no inet 127.0.0.1 and i chececke teh other 4 and all have a
lo entry the only real difference was teh 2.2.5 host that has,
understandably, no inet6 entry .. grin.

yep even interchange the physical files with others in teh
network and still teh same result .. undeliverable mail and no
localnetworking

other than ping, that i don't use every day (grin) sendmail
appears to be teh only thing thats broken. if checking these
things were able to fix this problem it would have been fixed
sometime ago .. i suppose teh real probl;em is that i do not
understand what is going on here and i thought i was coming up
to speed on this freebsd v6.2 beast .. perhaps, i am not ???
really is it that differnt to freebsd v2.2.5 ???

ok i'll admit my confidence is now eroding at a rapid clip ?

apologies/regards and much appreciations
