[BUGS] odd motd behaviour

greetings all,

on teh router i've setup a couple of userid's mainly admin
staff most (all three of us) have group wheel access (and if
it means anything) are listed in sudoers config (this behaviour
is irrespective of listing in sudoers file (i checked).

when ever i log into, but mainly if i try to do teh following

slogin(8) uid at hostid (then i change to root while login'd)

instead of getting the # prompt (i;ve setup teh system to use
the tcsh enviroment/shell, bash dosent do this) i am inside a
less(8) session, it is as if the system has started up less(8)
to display something ?? perhaps the motd message ?? the only
way i can get to teh root prompt is by exiting from ;ess(8).

the only thing that i have done/changed is to edit teh motd
file, by cutting out most of teh existing stuff .. it is not
needed by the 'experienced staff', well something like that.

any ideas/suggestions appreciated

most kind regards

jonathan
