Hi Jerahmy
I've got it going on FreeBSD6.2 RELEASE. From memory it wasn't too
complicated, I got most of my infomation on
http://us6.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/samba-pdc.html
which is very good to get you started. Below are some of the good sites
I found:
http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/
http://www.oregontechsupport.com/samba/?cat=10&paged=2
http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/using_samba/ch04.html
The samba version I configured was 3.0.25a, there were a few functions
that couldn't be implemented at the time from samba compared to an
actual Windows PDC, not sure if there's any improvements with the
current stable version (3.0.30). In general it can act as a PDC to
perform domain control, roaming profile etc, can't say too much about
reliability, I only configured on a test network and had it running for
a very short period of time.
Hope this helps, would be interesting to see anyone else's opnion who's
doing this in a production environment.
Cheers
Tong
