I'm also with tpg. For SMTP, have you tried mail.tpg.com.au?

BTW, for the last five years or so at least, tpg have offered SMTP  
AUTH over SSL (useful if you have a laptop) and POP3 over SSL. Very  
useful for laptop use!

Not sure how to set up postfix for this the SMTP AUTH though - but  
I'm sure it would not be that hard.
