greetings,

i've been a keen photographer all my life, i am now looking to
move to the digital world, from my old analogue pentax and
mamiya slrs with range of lens, std format and some med
telephotos for teh spotmatic and teh (really nice) mamiya z. if
it means anything thats what i am trying to reproduce, because
of my neurological disfunction i have difficulties with most of
teh "small" digital cameras and my hands have learned how to
function in the 35mm handheld slr realm.

it is too hard to find a goodish developing, specialty printing
service and even b/w develpoing is getting beyond me and my
habitation. it looks like anything more than putting the film
in ato teh slot at one end and getting the paper out the opther
at some 60 min's is rated as 'specialty' these days (just an
obs)

what sort of dslr's are you guys using and how
compatible/usable are tehy in the berkeley unix world, what
sort of difficulies are common ?? opinion, options, war stories
would be appreciated recoomendations but more so not with a
'barge pole'.

ummmm, just a simple one i think, i have noticed that root
access is getting to be more and more nessacery, currently i'm
'getting arround' this by using "slogin userid at hostname" even
if its on teh desktop typign in teh passwd with sudo is getting
to be a bit of a drag.

anyone come across/have a faverite way of using root access
tools without needing to typein teh passwd, altavista drew some
silly results and lots of advertising .. as a side issue any
other (than google) text based, or easily accessible
(typing in teh url at the commandline) search engines
