True.  I kind of assumed it would only be in limited places where someone
would run into a firewall preventing SSH out on a non-standard port.

After all, you did say:

Note the "a" restrictive firewall, not multiple restrictive firewalls
in different locations.

So it's clear people have different requirements, and therefore different
strategies to deal with those requirements.
