Hi Jerahmy,

broad plan...

1 - organise hosted exchange server with more mailboxes (and storage?)
2 - move everyone to MS-Office LookOut (this may cost $$)
3 - import mail to LookOut and store to local PST files
4 - connect user to hosted exchange server
5 - transfer *essential* mail from local PST to exchange server
6 - copy the PSTs for archive purposes to file server and backup
7 - kill the "personal" accounts

If there is (as you mentioned earlier) a mail server in place, and
someone else is managing it, then use that. There is no point at all in
duplicating the infrastructure.

Yes, I know, I am speaking 'heresy' here by advocating the use of non
Open Source Software, but it is in place, management are comfortable
with it, and it will make your life easier so you can get on with more
interesting things (like beer/wine/whatever :')

A variant on the above could be to use just one copy of LookOut (less
$$) to do the transfers, and get everyone to use OWA to their mail. The
downside here is that you can't use PSTs with the OWA version. All the
mail has to reside on the server. But you could put many of the large
files on a file server share.

The upside is that they use only one client (the web client) but they
can use it from home as well as work.

Whichever, the management *must* drive this change. It is a "must do",
not a "nice to do, if you feel like it, maybe". So, I would be
concentrating on bringing management around to driving the process.

hth,

.h
