Hi All,
I have a friend who is trying to modify pfSense a bit. If anyone is
interested let me know and I will put you in touch, notice the finishing
date.....14th January.
Regards,
Hugh
The project is to have :
--------
3G - WAN (USB Sierra Wireless 875U mounted internally in PC)
Satellite (ethernet / DHCP) - WAN
Other (office LAN connection) - WAN Port
to
1 x LAN (Nat'd)
----------
in a failover configuration..
PFSense can basically do this (Has CARP etc for failover and even
load-balancing) except the current version can't do PPP (can do PPPoe
but not PPP as a WAN port for some crazy reason).. Everyone on the
forums is asking / begging for it..
We're using this hardware:
http://www.mini-box.com/Mini-Box-M200-LCD
It's working well so far.. We need to get the integrated LCD doing
something useful too :
ie http://www.mini-box.com/picoLCD-20x2-OEM?sc=8&category=490
<http://www.mini-box.com/picoLCD-20x2-OEM?sc=8&category=490>
There's precompiled binaries for Linux and source.
The Sierra Wireless card range has source / binaries for Linux and is
detected properly as a Sierra modem (And fires up) with FreeBSD out of
the box (integrated drivers!!).. So that side seems easy enough. There's
also extra PPP scripts etc here:
http://www.sierrawireless.com/faq/ShowFAQ.aspx?ID=607
We'd ideally like to run this on CF / Disk on Module.. (I have it
running on a CF card currently as 'Full Install' - seems a little slow
but OK)
I can flick your guy a full kit of hardware whenever he's available..
Catch is that we need it finished by Jan 14 latest.. I've set a
'bounty' of $1K (on the assumption it's hopefully one long day's work if
it comes together and the only major mods are a bit of PHP coding on the
PFSense interface side) but there's more available as required.
